project

köpfmaschine is the first work of an international collaborative research and performance project begun in 2010 that explores the continuously developing intersections between dance, theater, music, plastic arts, and literary theory in contemporary performance. The project began as an exploration of Oscar Wilde's tragedy Salome and the translation of literary structures and images of the text to the physical and visual language of contemporary dance theater. Since then the focus has expanded to include the Deleuzian concepts of the machine and the body without organs and their representation in space.

As the initial visible manifestation of the project, köpfmaschine is imagined as the first work in a series of contemporary performances, installations, and publications that will continue to explore the themes of our research. The project is currently based in Buenos Aires and involves artists from the United States, Italy, Uruguay and Argentina.
